WordPress Mod_Security:

Now a days word press is becoming very popular among the net users. It is a powerful online blogging website and free to use. It provides the facility to publish your blogs or pages on internet without any cost. For this u just need to register with wordpress only and can start publishing your web pages immediately. It provides the users a well defined and attractive theme. But if a person knows about the web designing skills then he can also create his own theme. Presently a lot of people are working there. But no doubt , wordpress is passing through with many exploits due to its popularity.

Mod_Security:


Mod_security is a way to protect the word press from several hacking attempts. Mod security blocks a certain IP for a specific limit of time if it is getting too many unsuccessful login attempts from that IP. In this way it protects the word press from brute force attack. It give you the facility to log anything what we want , even our transaction data , with this you have a liberty to choose any logged transaction of a part of transaction. Mod security generally filters the HTTP features like requests , methods or request headers etc. since it is a Apache module and can be used to protect a web server from suspicious activities. It follows some specific rules which deny the hacker’ s HTTP requests. It helps the user who runs his site behind the security rules or code in his site. By enabling it SQL injection will not be effective and it will deny the SQL injections to access the database.

Mod-Security Functions:

Functions in Mod_Security ensure the activity of an attacker. A lot of functions can be applied within the same rule. for example

secRule ARG: p “xp_cmdshell” “t:urlDecode, t:lowercase.” Will ensure that a hacker does not apply the Url encoding. There are lot of functions available there like lowercase , uppercase , replace Null etc.
