SSH is called Secure Socket Shell. It is a network protocol which facilitates server admins to access a remote computer in a secure way. When we are talking about SSH clients on Windows system, first name came into our mind is Putty. Yes, it is widely used by every user as it is free and easy to understand. Putty is free, open-source and probably the best SSH client for Windows. As it is simple, easy and uses very less resources. But, still there are some features lacks in putty which are added in other SSH clients. Today we will look for these SSH clients which are most popular and can be used as alternative for Putty.

First, we will check putty features and after that others also.

1). PuTTy : Putty is mostly used SSH client for Windows. Reason behind its popularity is it's functionality, it is quite simple and light. It uses very less resources with comparison to others. You can connect t to a remote SSH server through simply just typing IP address or domain and port and hit open.

2). SuperPutty : SuperPutty is PuTTY alternative which provide a better version of PuTTY. However, it requires PuTTY to run. It allows tabbed sessions as well as SCP file transfers between remote and local system.

4). MobaXterm : MobaXterm provides a lot of functions for programmers, webadmins and others to manage systems remotely. Features are listed below.
  • It support many protocols like(SSH, X11, RDP, VNC, FTP, MOSH, …)
  • Embedded X Server and X11-Forwarding
  • Brings Unix commands to Windows (bash, ls, cat, sed, grep, awk, rsync, …)
