In the subsequent sections, you’ll learn how to change the default tagline.

Change Tagline in WordPress Settings

The best and the simplest way to make changes to your tagline is by going into the WordPress setting. For this, you need to log in to your dashboard. Then, add “/wp-admin” to the end of your website to visit the admin dashboard.

Once you land on the dashboard, look for the Settings option. Then, navigate into Settings>General.

In the General Settings, you’ll find a field that reads “Tagline” and it would be set to either blank or “Just Another WordPress site”. Change it to the tagline you want to set and hit the “save” button.

Use Theme Customizer

Another option is to use the Theme customizer and change the tagline from there. For this, you need to log in to your dashboard and then navigate into Appearance>Customize.

The main part will present a preview of your website. The left-hand side panel will contain a series of tabs. You need to click on the “Site Identity” tab where you’re going to find the tagline. It’ll be set to “Just Another WordPress Site” by default.

Change it to the tagline you want to set. Click on “Publish” button to confirm the changes and publish your website.

In a few cases, you’ll notice that the tagline still reads “Just Another WordPress Website” after you’ve made the changes. In such cases, clear the caches and try again. This should resolve this issue.

If you check your website on Google soon after you’ve updated your site, it will still read “Just Another WordPress Website” on Google search results.

That’s because Google takes some time to index your website once again and update its search results. But you can make this process immediate.

Log in to your Google Search Console and request manual indexing. This will update your tagline within the shortest time frame possible.

That might be the case on Facebook too. You can update the tagline by clearing Facebook cache by using the Sharing Debugger tool.
